They discovered it, they destroyed it. They cracked the code of history's largest civilization. We know of them today only because the ruins they left behind became a story for this world, one that is fascinating in its simplicity. At its peak around 2600 BC, Mohenjo Daro was among the most sophisticated city-states on Earth with a clear division between public and private lands, sewage systems , beautiful canals and water management system . The Harappan people built their new home on the banks of an Indus river in India with advanced architectural features like mud-brick walls and circular buildings... "Mohenjo Daro" became an instant blockbuster in its native India where it was dubbed in English, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. The film is based on Sujoy Ghosh 's book of the same name. The book tells the story of the people who lived in this lost city centuries before Alexander's conquests. Based on an ancient dream about coming home, the film had people talking about what makes a good movie. Anupam Kher -- who plays a Congress leader -- said he had seen interviews with politicians "who are sick to death of hearing me talk about this movie". However, he feels that "if you want to talk about it you should see it. The movie has got a rating of 7 rating on IMDB. Upon release, the film received generally mixed reviews, critics commended the concept and the backdrop but criticized it for being inapt in terms of screenplay. Noyon Jyoti Parasara for "The Times of India" rated the film 3/5 and said that "Mohenjo Daro will make history in bollywood history books. But sadly, not because it was an outstanding success, but because this movie's failure can be termed as something epic." Kunal Guha from "Mid Day" rated the film 2/5 saying that "Mohenjo Daro tries to recreate a lost civilization by using current-day imagery and ideas. Sadly the mix fails to impress." He also said that "the rampant use of a high-pitched music score and hard-core action tropes, don't help either. The result is a film that feels like a poor man's "Gladiator". Suresh Kavirayani from "Deccan Chronicle" gave it 3/5 stars as well as Jyoti Parasara from The Times of India saying that the film doesn’t gel as a whole. Srijana Mitra Das from Huffington Post complained about the film lacking in depth and said that “It has slick production values and an epic storyline, but nothing beyond what you’ve seen before. ” A review on the film by India Today said “"Mohenjo Daro" is a pointless and painful treatise on pummelled pulp, devoid of thrills and engaging characters.” Bollywood Hungama rated the movie 2/5 stars and said that "After watching "Mohenjo Daro", we can say with confidence that the people who lost the city probably spent more time on fighting with each other than saving themselves from external threats." Skip, played by Arunoday Singh was praised for his performance. He was also nominated for several awards. Music Director of this film is Mithoon and Sohail Sen and lyrics penned by Kausar Munir. 8eeb4e9f32 36
